Just across the street from my house stands a laurel tree. I often visit her when I need her fragrant leaves, always asking permission before gathering herbs, fruits, flowers or leaves. The tree’s response comes in subtle ways: a bird taking flight, a sudden gust of wind, the melody of a passerby’s song, or even the abrupt honk of a car. This laurel has been very generous, offering me countless leaves that have found their way into my cooking and potions. I made this soap as a tribute to the tree. A strong infusion of her leaves forms the base of the soap, bringing with it the antimicrobial properties long celebrated in traditional remedies. Known for soothing burns and rashes, it feels like the perfect ingredient for a nurturing soap. The essential oil blend is gentle and sweet, reminiscent of laurel leaves and freshly baked pastries! When I tried the soap for the first time, I couldn’t help but exclaim: “Oh my Goddess! This is the best soap I’ve ever made!” (and a sudden sense of guilt arose for my other creations). This soap feels like the ultimate gift from the laurel tree.
