A couple of months ago, in the back of my cupboard, I discovered a box of Tie Guan Yin tea, which translates into 'Iron Goddess of Mercy', and I loved it! I soon started to work on a soap recipe around it. Besides being the most widely consumed drink in the world after water, tea is also renowned for its anti-inflammatory and cosmetic properties on the skin. In the making, I added birch leaves, sandalwood, tea matcha and other botanicals to lend the soap a coarse texture, different shades of green, pink and yellow and more skin-loving properties. I went for a balsamic, herbal and musky essential oil blend to mix with the special aroma of the tea, neem and hemp oil present in my recipe. This scrub soap produces a bubbly lather that leaves the skin visibly healthy and soft.
